A cultural event was organised by the School of Languages and Literature (SoLL) at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) on 22nd December, 2021 to commemorate “Dogri Manyata Diwas”. Dr. Isha Malhotra, Head, School of Languages and Literature, SMVDU delivered the welcome address. SMVDU. She emphasised on the importance of the Dogri language, and how youngsters are getting interested in the Dogri popular literature through social media.
The Chief Guest, Sh. Nagendra Singh Jamwal (KAS), Registrar, SMVDU, addressed the audience and enumerated upon the significance of such cultural events that help in the promotion and preservation of the Dogri language. He further announced that the university will soon celebrate the Dogri language in a grand event. The cultural gala consisted of folk dances, folk songs and cultural performances and was attended by the faculty members and students of SoLL. The students of B.A. and M.A. English lit up the stage with their phenomenal dance, singing and poetry performances in Dogri. The event by moderated by Ms. Devika Sharma and Ms. Ayushi.The Vice Chancellor, SMVDU, Prof. RK Sinha, commended the efforts of the students of the School of Languages and literature.
